[SOLVED] xinput1_3.dll is missing

so I have a new PC now and am slowly getting my games onto it. Some I can copy, I'll backup and transfer most of my steam library but some I think will be easier to redownload.

HAWKEN wouldnt run, apparently XINPUT1_3.dll is missing

I wont download dll files from the net, and didnt think reinstalling the game immidiatly would help.

so I installed MWO, same thing.

Still havent backed up a steam game to try that, so I attempted to reinstall Dx11. Not helpfull at all

found the file on my old XPPC and added it to the same location in my Win7 box.

3 of the locations I found didnt exist, possibly I need to install "microsoft XNA Game Studio" (that where I found it) but I cant install that if I dont have "visual studio 2010" or "visual C# 2010 Expres" getting less likely that I need this but it was probably on my old PC for a reason.

Now I have a different error, actually the text is all the same exept for the file it is talking about, now D3DCompiler43.dll is missing
On the other hand now MWO does nothing.

Ok for missing this file the internet still reccomends updating DX11, well windows says I cant. so I'll just go for another SDK I suppose.

Hrm, after downloading the SDK and begining to restore some games to steam I tried MWO and it just loaded without any issues? Maybe it is like Age of Empires Online where it works after you try 5 times in a row?

HAWKEN still doesnt work though.

the DX SDK install failed 2x and suggested I close all my other programs. Apparently if I have more recent redistributable packages then I cannot install the basic one.

well that didnt sound like fun so I restarted my PC and played a round of MWO, now HAWKEN works too.

So the solution was either attempting to install the Dx SDK and XNA Game studio or ....
... Have you tried turning it of and on again?

Who are you? Who do you intend to be?

Somebody asked me a week ago: Who are you?
a simple question but I was stumped for a way to respond.
There is no way to explain myself except by the relations I have to those around me, to the things I have or have done and my plans for the future. These are the things that can define a person. But that didn't really help me answer the question, and it got me thinking seriously about the future...

I’m not really sure of myself at the moment. Who am I? I recall that Tsun Tsu says: Know yourself and you will prevail most half of the time, Know yourself and your enemy and you will prevail most of the time. But if you neither know yourself nor your enemy most of your endeavors will fail before you start. So what do I want? What are my goals? I already have ten steps but that is more about the how, the journey to the endpoint not that actual goal.

For goals it may be something like:
Share luxuries
Be efficient
Look after myself and be physically. emotionally, spiritually. mentally fit
Recover from challenges and have fun whilst being ashamed of nothing that I do or am.

Be prepared and train just in case I am sucked into an alternate reality like Tokidoki (anime Amatsuki) or Fry from Futurama. I want a flexible skill set that will enable me to survive in an alien culture with no possessions. (As an aside I like Tokidoki  because his super power is ignorance, he can be anything he thinks he can be).

Nope, that’s still for "along the way" things.

As a near term goal I suppose I should have another look at learning new language in preparation for whatever communication forms I need to learn in the future. Or maybe just talking to people who don’t speak much English would suffice?
A long term goal would be to get to heaven, but I’m not in any hurry for that. And the keys to heaven lie is how I do what I do not what I do. Plus there is the whole saved by grace through faith thing.

Which reminds me of a song:
Do what you do do well boy,
Do what you do do well.
If you do what you do do well, boy.
Then you’ll do well.

But in the meantime what type of job do I want? Where do I want to live? Shall I buy a dog? Shall I wear my urban camo or my denim Jeans? Shall I make spag bog for tea or spaghetti and meatballs? It’s so easy to just do the same thing as I did yesterday and be like a door swinging on its hinge, going back and forward but never getting anywhere. Where can I find improvements? and how to I become, as Rock Lee says “Stronger than I was yesterday.”? (Shuppuuden episode 28: The Resurrected Beasts. Clip)

Writing things down does make ideas settle, just like adding a bit of gelatin to a cheesecake. I think I am in a better position now to guess what I am thinking and thus predict what actions I may take in the future.

Taste of Harmony

A taste of harmony, I like that idea. Actually I usually try to make each individual meal as culturally diverse as possible. Like putting pineapple in Irish stew, or making a curry with Beef and Greek yoghurt.

We have been talking about this for a while at work and I just now realized that we have a sojourn scheduled that week too. Currently at work we have representations from, Belgian, New Zealand, Italy, France and India. I dunno what background the other Technomancer’s have.

While I do like my food my lunch at work normally consists of fruit or vegetables, with the occasional sandwich or instant noodles. You see I have problems with what I should take for lunch:
There is limited space in the fridge.
The cooking equipment consists of: Kettle, sandwich press, microwave & coffee machine.
Lunch is scheduled to last 30min.
The average attendance is 12±12, so it can get crowded at the sink.
We are an alcohol free site.

So normally when people bring things to lunch for their birthday it’s a cake or slice that sits in the bottom of the fridge. Added to this my cultural heritage is ~9generations of Australians, proceeded by Prussian on my mums side and the rest of Europe on my dad’s side. I think I’m Scottish/Irish direct descendant. I’ve never made lamingtons before and it’s been a very long time since I endeavored to bake a pavlova.

The next complication is what foods am I confident enough to feed to other people? Golden Syrup Dumplings and Self saucing chocolate pudding are not possible to pre-prepare or make at work. Curries and Pasta would also be a challenge to serve. Maybe rely of the microwave to reheat the food?

Maybe it’s easier to just bite the bullet and go for LAN only, that was I can also sign up to be a part of the event officially. If our secretary hasn’t done a theme for the burning of Minecraft then I’ll derail that train and make it a food sojourn.

Quiché, cold pasta and salad are the only things that spring to mind, then I have to try to fit them into my heritage somehow.

Maybe I’ll have a Sunday session of afternoon cooking.

10 steps of progress

Have I succeeded?

1 Luxuries are to be shared:
As VRBones indicated this can be a curse as well as a blessing. I filled up my afternoons with other things and haven been inviting people for dinner much lately. I do still keep tea ~$10, and now that I am living alone that meal may last me half a week.
Currently I have given up coffee for lent although I also haven’t been drinking it much on my lonesome, I’ve had to many average coffees of late and it doesn’t have the allure that it used to. I’ve run out of beer because I kept sharing it.
Over the last year I’m pretty sure I spent more on computer games for other people than I did for myself. Since I have been back from PNG I’ve hardly played with myself at all. The occasional game of LOL with Levi and then there is the Thursday Sojourn.

2 Plan things:
Plan to be unprepared has been working well for me. I’ve also kept a rolling to do list, although many of the things have been on it for a year. One day I’ll post my Christmas photos from SA.
My trip to PNG helped a bit with my plan for cryogenic freezing. Being able to type at a computer was useless, but knowing a few card games and how to make a deck of carts is a good thing. Even if you speak a foreign language you can still have fun with pater recognition.

3 Spent more efficiently:
May need to rework this if I continue to live on my lonesome, although I have been doing a good job of paying off my house ~$1000 a month still works. I’d like to spend $2000 on the fun of Kite surfing, also to maintain my physical fitness. But that is a bit of a hurdle at the moment.

4 Exercise Mentally:
I’m learning typing good, and spelling too. Partially my blog but also email letters to people. I have much more confidence in my written language skill, but I’ve had to sacrifice some polysyllabic words. Also I have been talking to foreigners a bit of late, one day I hope to speak two languages. Maybe if everything on the computer is in one language and then English for everything else?
Still have a few games that I haven’t mastered and LOL always seems to have more champions.

5 Exercise Physically:
Between dancing on Monday and Tuesday nights for an hour each I think I now know:
Moonlight Tango – backwards dance
Midnight Tango – backwards dance
Argentine Tango
Salsa – spaghetti with the hands
Samba – horsy dance, with the Frisbee fling
Catherine Waltz
Alpha Waltz – the backwards one
Jive –cuddle, stop&go, chug, American spin
Cha
Paso Doble – bullfighting conquistador
Quickstep
Foxtrot
Rhumba
Quick Step

Then there is the weekly bike ride to the beach for a swim and coffee. I don’t think riding to work counts as I do that nearly every day. Snorkelling may be another new cheaper thing to do at the beach, although there is not much to see.

6 Exercise Spiritually:
I’ve been somewhat consistent in reading the bible before work and sleep, partway through David at the moment. Also there is a weekly bible study for Lent that has homework, so I do that when I get home from work at my computer.
Query to follow up: Is my Spirit different to my Soul? This may also delve into community development theory and the LAN Psizomaijitsu. Nope, thats mostly my greek logic backgroud, and I'm suffering from preconception bias.

7 Exercise Emotionally:
Maybe this should be socially? Although watching the movie Red Dog defiantly counts as an emotional exercise. Visiting foreign countries are great for empathy and broadening your horizons. Also in November I went back to SA to visit rellies for the second time in 9 years. There is a new girl at church Beth and a new one at work Aurore that I have been getting to know. Haven’t been to Wednesday trivia for since before Christmas.

8 Recovery:
Recently got some wired skin irritation from PNG and cut my hands and feet up whilst snorkelling, both a learning experience. I also ate very little in PNG and got heatstroke.

9 Have Fun:
The fun thing at work has been learning Citect programming and being the first in the world to calibrate an NIR on liquid sugars. Also playing cards with Kristina, Levi and Nicole in PNG was good. Plus incorporating Technomancers Sojourn is not work or a hassle and we are still sticking too it so I think that must be fun too.
Sleeping is more fun when I wake up before my alarm, which means I’ve had enough sleep too.

0 Regret Nothing:
This is sort of turning into a “how can I be a better ben” thing. I can’t learn unless I first make mistakes to lean from and when I see the worth in my failure then it becomes priceless. It seems this is as much a subtle afterthought as having fun is…
This one here needs some word smithing, possibly a biblical reference too.

Progressive advancement:
Need more of all the above.
More sharing of luxuries, this is the ideal of communism. (the sort without corruption)
More Plan so that when I do not know what is going on I still know what to do and why I am.
More efficiency of worldly possessions means that I require less worldly possessions. These things need to be expended to acquire more of everything else.
More fit in the four areas of exercise. To be fit it to be able to do all the things that I want to do, I do not need to be an athlete to be fit.
More recovery so that when inconveniences occur the recovery is quicker and I have more practice at recovering from them. It’s the bumps along the highway of life that make it interesting.
More fun, is there such a thing as too much fun?
More adaption, Improvements can be made everywhere. What next can I do better than I did yesterday.
More more, I’ve forgotten what happened last week, so it needs to be done again and better this time. (reference Rock Lee from Naruto)

The progressive advancement of more fun through these activities is a good measurement of the current success rate of that which is the goal of being Ben and grabbing life with both hands and squeezing it for all it is worthwhile we all go for another trip around the sun.

Graphically Significant

Whilst the correlation coefficient R2 is a terrific tool for quickly interpreting a calibration dataset, there are limitations. Sometimes you need a human to have a look. I was trying to explain this to somebody at work didn’t have a lot of success. Afterwards I found out about Anscombe’s Quartet. These are four graphs that show why statisticians exist. I changed the datasets a little so that the line of best fit would be near on perfect.

The first graph shows a fairly normal calibration dataset with too few samples. I’d be quite pleased if my first 10 samples showed this graph, the only issue would be to reduce the variation and collect more extreme samples. With this it seems the accuracy is ±1 unit.

The second graph would show perfect correlation if I was looking for a polynomial (y = -0.507x2 + 5.56x – 9.00 to be precise).

The third graph indicated to me that the data point at x6.5, y9.74 must be in error, possibly there was a typo in entering the data. All the other data points here give a perfect correlation to the formula y=0.6908x + 1.0056.

The fourth graph on the other hand is terrible; there really is no discernible line of best fit. Possibly there are only two samples and one of them has been repeated ten times.

Don’t try it with your English teacher, but for everybody else a picture is worth a thousand words.

LOL: 3v3v3 map

Concept based around a hexagon like a Benzene ring. Each corner of the map contains a base similar to that found in a 5v5 map, but without the 3 turrets at the nexus.
When your nexus is defeated your champions still respawn and can play but your team cannot win.
At champion select also vote for starting position, default location already has 1 vote. At a draw or if teams all vote for the same place then it is random, so you will either end up where you voted for or at your default location.
IP awarded depending on how well you played plus winning bonus, like dominion.
Baron in centre of the map and the minions circle him so that they are out of range of each other. Dragon present at the start of the game but baron replaces him when killed.
You have 2 turrets on the side lanes and one to baron.
Dragons live in empty bases, where the nexus would be.
12 jungle camps (2 in each triangle) so 16 total jungle camps.
Can use the shops at empty bases, cannot heal there though and no nexus turret.
Minion wave has 4 casters and 4 melee. 2 of each stealth when moving so they sometimes can pass each other around baron
Unused towers are passive, only attacking as defence but if you kill one you get gold and full health + mana.

Green = Creep; Blue/Red/Yellow = teams; B = Baron/Base; T = Tower; Dot = Jungle Camp

Default configuration with blue minion path mapped out.

end game blue V red, blue path shown

end game blue v yellow, blue path shown

Blue Path, crowded corner.

Draft LOL Champ 6

Selah, The Homeless One

Attributes: Support (assassin&carry maybe)

Lore:
Melody a friend (apprentice+admirer/rival) of summoner Istvaan (from Fiddlestick story) was one of the advocates against extra planar summoning. she maintained that there was no need to summon creatures from other worlds. there have been enough magical monstrosities created through the Runewars that there should be no need to.
She maintained that any of the other worlds were inhabited mostly by harmless creature who just want to be left alone. She set out to prove this using the knowledge that Istvaan taught her to try to summon a bunny from the most distant and disconnected place thus far found.
It worked ... sort of.
other summoners remembering the summoning of Fiddlesticks attempted to interrupt her spell. Only the creatures soul arrived, leaving its body at home. But this was not noticed for quite some time.
At first it was assumed that Melody failed and went mad. as a result Melody  was exiled from the Summoners guild she ended up wandering the streets of Zaun homeless and destitute. she should have died of old age by now but has re-emerged with a split personality. She claims the other half is Selah whose soul has taken residence within her.
Melody has taken on the title of "The Homeless" and decided to return to the League of Legends to make sure that nobody else is made homeless through their so called "war prevention games" This time though she will be acting as a champion not a summoner.
When participating in league matches Selah is summoned out of Melod's mind onto the fields of justice.
Some people speculate that Selah is not really a harmless bunny but a superpowerd entity or the spirit of a star and only a portion of its power can be used in this realm, some people claim it is an insanity a virus or a parasite.

League Judgment:
...
A day in the life of a miniature giant space hampster
...
"So how does it feel, exposing your mind?"
"Torcherously lonely, horribly sad I can hardly bare thinking about it. Oh you mean the judgement. Thats OK, its nice to have somebody other than Melody to talk to for a change"
"Um, err, Why do you want to join the League?"
"To remind you summoners why you shouldn't summon creatures from Elswhere. I will teach you empathy"

Statistics:

    Health: 1 (+0)
    Mana: 500 (+ 75)
    Damage: 1 (+0)
    Attack Speed: 0.5 (+2.0%)
    Range: 500
    Armor: -60 (+0)
    Magic Res: 30 (+1.5)
    Health Regen: 4 (+ 0.5)
    Mana Regen: 6.2 (+ 0.65)
    Mov. Speed: 330

//yes negative armor so that possessing a minion will give them zero armor. also you are supposed to be very vulnerable as a homeless bunny.
//health regen only relevant when it is added to the possessed champ/minion
//spending time as a homeless bunny is ill advised.

Abilities:

Ethereal Essence (Innate) - Since Selah has no body to call her own her mana acts as her health. and damage done is taken from her manabar instead of her health. When her mana reaches zero she is unsummoned.

//there are a few champs with only health bars, this is the opposite. Selah is a very magical entity.
//health items will have their effects added to the host minion.champ but be irrelevant for Selah

[Q] Dimensional Dodge - Selah focuses antidimensional energies around her to protect her host.
(Passive) increases her tenacity 8/10/12/14/16 (+0.25AP)
(Toggle) Dodge increased by 1% for each 2% mana available. +50% dodge at full mana.
costs 10 mana per dodge

//this should quickly drain your manna to ~10% but not drain it all the way to zero. leave it on for a nice passive boost or save it and your mana for emergencies. necessary to have on when in bunny for as you have no physical defence
//the tenacity part of this ability may be unnecessary, possibly this is only relevant when not possessing a champion?

[W] Astral Attack (Active) - Selah focuses on the next attack adding her AP as magic damage.

    Cost: 25 mana
    Cooldown: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 seconds

//Similar to Blitzcranks punch but no stun. this and [R] are your only ways to attack when homeless.

[E] Transiency (Active) - Temporarily reside within anothers body stacking all your stats to theirs. As Selah grows she can control larger creatures. Baron Nashor is to large though.

When in possession of a minion:
Minion gains manabar, when the minion dies Selah is ejected into her bunny form. All stats from items are added to the minion and the Selah takes full control of the minion.
When attempting to posess an allied champion:
Selahs mana is added as a sheild to that champs healthbar. On separation 50% of the remaining health goes into Selahs mana and 50% remains with that champion. If the champion dies so does Selah.
All non unique items stats from the first 3 items are added to the host champion. Selah can use her abilities but cannot control movement.

    Can posses: Minions/Small jungle creeps/Jungle with buff/ dragon/ Superminions
    Range: 750
    Cooldown: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 seconds

//the really interesting part of the champ. This means that any item is valid for Selah to build. you can get ferried around by your lane mate or go jungelling and posses lizard rather than killing him.
//Don't really want a Fiddlesticks with 12 deathcaps, scary to think about it.Changed to 3 items only. I suppose the base stats would not be added to a champ either.
//shield is similar to mord or blitz.
//enemies can identify her on a minion because the minion has a manabar, that is all.
//enemies can identify her on a champ by the shield and a bunny following.

[R] Homesickness (active) - Selah gives an enemy champion a look that says "I miss home and it is so far away" Both are caught in an empathic link stunning them and losing allied vision. mana is drained from the enemy to Selah.

     Snare for 1 second
     Cost: 150 / 200 / 250 mana
4/6/8% +0.3AP mana is transferred per second
     Cooldown: 150 / 140 / 130 seconds

//helpful to gank like with nocturns [R]. also can be used as a lifesteal, the only lifesteal available actually.
//note that this also snares the host champion, they might not like you for it even though their manasheild is increased.
//you may end up with less mana than you started with. Maybe there should be no mana cost?

Appearance:
a homeless girl in a hooded rag cloak, when you attempt to leave the summoners platform a bunny ghost jumps out. (or some other woodland creature)
you use the bunny untill you can posess somebody.
Possessing a minion is a ninja action, without any particle effects from items you will be hidden, exept for the mana bar.
Possessing a champion can add the ghost version of that champ. either slightly larger or with a delat to animations to make the champ look blurry.
Or her rabbit image follows said champ. (less particle effect this way.)

//This still feels a bit too OP. but I did the two things I wanted. Mana for health and the possession thing. There is no lore yet (that I know of) relating to the people who didn't like summoning from other planes.
//I really have no idea how much it will take to kill this champ.
//when possessing a champ debufs eg silence effects them both
//ghost abilities (mord/zil/yorric) target the other champ not Selah. unless Selah is on a minion. To avoid this target Selah's portrait instead.
//if you only posses one champ you can get them their endgame item build halfway through the game. since you die at the same time you should always be able to stay together.
//ofthe ones that I made this was one of the first and I think the best.

Ecc 12 struck a cord

Do whatever you want when you are young but remember the Lord will take account of everything you do. For the day will come when you will not be able to hear a conversation for the sounds on the street and yet a bird in the night will keep you from sleeping.Your joints will ache and slow your movement. Your teeth all fall out and you will have to eat steak through a straw.

I read that somewhere recently. I'm sure of it. Maybe it was in proverbs. Took me over a week to find it again. I had been researching planar travel and some website sent me to verse 6 as proof that there is more than one dimension. It sounded like they were talking about Neverwinter Nights 2.

Outerdimensional Octopus

Outerdimensional Octopus: A hero I started to make for LOL

Made a couple of these for League of Legends and found that I had to delete my cookies to post on the forums. Still haven't done it. So call this Draft one.

more CDR = more exiting special abilities + less reliance on auto attacks.

super dense octopus
tank, assassin, physical mage

Passive
transdimensionality
take 10% less damage from all sources as you phase in and out of reality. This damage is converted into mana.
doe snot move as such, teleports from one location to the next. (permanent half flash move)

Q
Tentacles reach out and snare the selected target, pulling them to yourself.
like a fishing rod every 0.5 seconds your target is snared for .2sec and pulled towards you. you cannot move for the duration of 3 seconds.
If you pull your target into melee range they are stunned for the remainder of the 3 seconds.
any units hit by your tentacles take 20+0.1AP physical damage.

W Flail
Passive: You fling a tentacle at any creatures that attack you, entangling them.
Effects the 1/2/4/6/8 most recent units to hit you, slowing their MS.
Units that pass through the tentacles take 0.1AP Physical damage
Active:
You swing your tentacles around you, slamming them into the ground. Doing extra damage for each entangled enemy.
AOE like Gangplank's Arrr targeted on self. randomly hitting units for 20+ 20Physical damage for each unit that has a tentacle attached.
Any tangled units take 100%AP magic damage when the effect ends.

E Teleport
You focus your teleportation skills and re-emerge in the exact same location as an enemy. Your victim takes damage as you phase into reality within them. The weaker they are the easier this is.
Spell cost is refunded by the % health they were missing
If you cause your victim to explode the cool down is refreshed.
(similar to Garens ult)

R Gravitate
Concentrate on becoming a physical reality. your density increases while you hold concentration, you cannot do it for long though and eventually return to semi-reality.
all units within a small range are pulled to you quickly
all units within a large range are pulled to you slowly
all units that hit you take 200 Physical damage
at the end all units are knocked up and flung  to the outer edge for 100+.5AP physical damage.

what would work god against bots? Tony does well pushing towers with himer in mid
possibly using jax I can backdoor and deprive a side lane of all minions, then run away.
they all have a lot of slow/stun
they are in a habit of porting in predictable spots.

Addicted to Learning

After getting my Duke of Edinburgh's Awards people asked me what I got out of it and I think the biggest thing was an addiction to learning. Now that I have finished the Gold and I nolonger need to wait for paperwork or prove to anonymus outsiders that I really did what I said I would do I think I'll attempt to keep a record of what else I do to progress my addiction. It's certainly not something I want to cure.

Interstellar Marines

Ever heard of Interstellar Marines? neither had I but it sounds interesting. Just read an article on Games.on.net and one of the developers used the phrase "make the game that we really want to play". It seems to be a new system shock2. Note to self keep an eye out for this game.

Checking their website I have seen this before, but this time I am interested.
